Anita L. Gilley, age 77, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 2:13 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Allure of Storey Lake in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born July 4, 1946 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of James F. and Delores M. (Stewart) Boone. Anita attended school at SE Iowa Community College in West Burlington, Iowa where she attained Associates Degree in Accounting. On April 15, 1983, she married John V. Gilley and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2012. 

For over 27 years, she and John owned and operated Gilley’s Movers in Pensacola, FL. For a time, Anita worked in construction. Anita loved to paint, write, and watch television; Murder She Wrote, Monk, and Little House on the Prairie were her favorites. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation for over thirty years. She loved to read her bible, but mostly, she enjoyed being with her family.

Anita is survived by her daughter Julie (Brent) Felsing, sons, Marsten Brockett and Rodney (Tara) Keener, her grandchildren Amberly Felsing, Amanda Hollar, and Curtis McCollum, and great-grandchildren TJ, Jordan, Ava, and Oliva. She is also survived by her sisters, Mel Boone and Krystal (Bill) Bouchez. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, one brother, and one grandchild, Stormy.

A memorial service for Anita Gilley is planned for 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Kingdom Hall, 201 North Linwood Road, Galesburg, IL.
