Man Arrested and Charged with Attempted Murder

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of a shooting. The victim was driving in a vehicle and was moving at the time the incident occurred. Officers were able to locate the victim and found a grazing gunshot wound to the left shoulder. The victim was treated at the scene.

The investigation led to a vehicle and possible suspect being identified. On Friday, March 22, 2024, an arrest warrant for Tomas A. Rubio, age 21, was obtained with the assistance of the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office. Tomas Rubio subsequently turned himself in to the Galesburg Police Department that same afternoon.

Rubio was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Knox County Jail, where he is being detained at this time.
