Mark Douglas Cooper, 71, of Monmouth, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home.

He was born on January 14, 1953 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Theodore E. and M. Jean (Perrin) Cooper.  He was raised on a farm near Little York and proudly graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1971.

After graduation, Mark relocated to Houston, Texas, followed by a move to Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked for Sun World Corporation as a graphic arts supply representative for many years.  He then returned to the Monmouth area to care for his parents, and was employed by the R.A. Reynolds Insurance Agency as an agent and customer service representative.  Mark deeply enjoyed his customers and was known for his positive outlook and his sharp (some would say wicked) sense of humor.  Mark also loved his neighborhood friends on 200th avenue and had a big heart for the local cat population.

Surviving Mark is his dog, Charlie, his cats; his brother, Phillip (Roberta) Cooper of Little York, IL and their extended family, as well as his sister, Terri Cooper of Phoenix, AZ.  Also surviving is lifelong friend, Cindy Bennett of Little York, IL, and his many area friends that he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Per Mark’s wishes, no formal services will be held and cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Mark Cooper Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
