Galesburg Structure Fire Remains Under Investigation

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1011 E. Brooks Street this morning, April 14, 2024, at 5:40 A.M. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames on the east side of the structure. Battalion Chief Dave Farrell established command and the Brooks Street Station Fire Crew made entry and extinguished the fire with an attack hose line. A search was conducted and no occupants or pets were found. No injuries were reported.

An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage to the city. The structure is considered to be a total loss. Galesburg Fire Investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set and is still under investigation.
