Rose F. Swan, age 88, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth, passed away at 1:38 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at KSB Hospital in Dixon, Illinois. She was born May 18, 1936 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Wilbur and Vivian (Sage) Miller. She was reared and educated in Monmouth. On February 3, 1955, she married Oscar Swan, Jr. in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1993. 

Rose worked for Formfit, as a CNA at a local nursing home, at DCFS, and Warren County Housing Authority. She was also a homemaker. Rose enjoyed playing slot machines, mushroom hunting, and art; paper mache, painting, and drawing. For many years, she operated a Halloween costume store in her home. She also had a passion for animals and would often times take in a stray to care for. Mostly, Rose loved being with family and her grandchildren. 

Rose is survived by two daughters, Paula (Scott) Johnson of Dixon, Illinois and Rhonda Randolph of Galesburg, Illinois, one son, Martin (Gayla) Swan of Taylorville, Illinois, and her grandchildren, Cole Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Cade Johnson, Dina (Bryan) Parcell, Tyson (Theresa) Randolph, Bill (Sheena) Swan, Cammy (Jeff) Huffman, and Joe Swan. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar,one stillborn daughter, Rose Marie Swan, her brother Ray Miller, and her sister-in-law Janice Miller.

A funeral service for Rose Swan will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, Illinois. Memorials may be left to the Western Illinois Animal Rescue, Monmouth, Illinois.
