Clara Geraldine Tabb, 91, of Abingdon, died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the Knox County Nursing Home.

She was born on October 27, 1932, at home in rural London Mills, the daughter of Clarence David and Minnie Mae (Danner) Guiter. She married Robert Olaf Tabb on December 21, 1950, in Knox County. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1976. She had a significant other for many years, Stanley “Stubb” Lewis, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving Clara are her children, Beverly Sue (Steve) Goff and Cecil Robert (Barbara) Tabb, both of Abingdon, and Drew Hardy (Vicki) Tabb of Berwick, her deceased son’s longtime companion, Debbie Kelso of Abingdon; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and significant other, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne Tabb; and siblings, Earl D. Guiter, Cecil Guiter, Evelyn Anderson, Edith Tinkham, Eleanor Courson, and Bessie Guiter.

Clara was always a worker. Over the years she had worked at the Blue Bell, Monmouth Pottery, St. Mary Medical Center, and at the Care Center of Abingdon for 18 years, before retiring. She was of Baptist faith. Family was important to Clara and she enjoyed spending her free time with them.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Abingdon. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with her nephew, Pastor Danny Hunt, officiating. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Clara’s name may be made to Abingdon American Legion Post 381 or Feed My Lambs.
