Scots Earn 178 Academic All-Conference Selections

MONMOUTH, ILL. (07/15/2024) Monmouth College had 127 student-athletes, representing 18 sports, named Midwest Conference Academic All-Conference on Monday. The Scots had 15 student-athletes earn Academic All-Conference in multiple sports, resulting in 173 MWC Academic All-Conference selections plus five golfers from the SLIAC for a total of 178 honorees in the 2023-24 academic year.

Of those 173 MWC honorees, 93 represent women’s teams while 80 come from men’s teams. The women’s track & field team leads the way with 18 selections from both indoor and outdoor season for 36 overall selections. Men’s track & field had 27 overall selections with 14 outdoor and 13 indoor. Football (17), women’s soccer (12), softball (11), baseball (10) and women’s basketball (10) were also in double digits.

The Scots had 60 selections from fall sports, 57 from winter sports and 56 from spring sports. In addition to these MWC Academic All-Conference selections, the Scots put three men’s golfers on the SLIAC Academic All-Conference team last month plus two women’s golfers were on the SLIAC team in the fall semester. Overall, Monmouth had 178 Academic All-Conference honorees in the two conferences for which they participate in athletics for the 2023-24 academic year and every sport had at least one selection.

Last month, Briggs Bossert, Ganon Greenman and Thomas Henson were named SLIAC Academic All-Conference for men’s golf. The women’s golf team placed Annalyn Lovell and Izzy McDermott on the SLIAC All-Conference team in the fall season.

Representing the league’s 18 sponsored sports, the MWC Academic All-Conference team features 880 award winners participating in men’s sports, 689 women’s sports participants and 250 multi-sport athletes. The criteria to be recognized as an Academic All-Conference selection includes having satisfied a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.33, which is calculated only in the awarded academic year. MWC Academic All-Conference honors are announced
annually after the posting of spring term grades.
