Lawrence “Larry” W. Ryner, 71, of Cave Springs, AR, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Circle of Life in Bentonville, AR after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

Larry was born on December 11, 1952, to James and Betty (Caldwell) Ryner in Monmouth, IL. After Larry graduated from Monmouth High School in 1971, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army. With an honorable discharge from the military, he went on to marry the love of his life, Joan M. Saddoris in 1976 in Port Byron, IL. Larry earned both Bachelor of Science (1977) and Masters of Science in Education (1983) degrees from Western Illinois University. He had a fulfilling teaching career coupled with his love of computers being head of IT for the district. He retired in 2010 after serving over 30 years with Monmouth School District # 38.

Larry’s proudest accomplishment was the family he and Joan created. They have 3 sons that Larry immensely enjoyed spending time with including cheering on the Chicago Bears together every chance they had. Their kids are Douglas (Nicole) Ryner of Cave Springs, AR, Matthew (Cindy) Ryner of Rogers, AR, and Gregory (Elizabeth) Ryner of Bentonville, AR. Larry is also leaving behind 5 grandkids: Austin, Tommy, Addison, Alexandria, and Zoey. Being a grandpa brought Larry lots of laughs and joy over the last 7 years.

In addition to his wife, kids, and grandkids, Larry is survived by his brothers Frank (Virginia) Ryner of Rock Island, IL, Richard (Glenda) Ryner of Monmouth, IL, and David (Suzanne) Ryner of Monmouth, IL.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Donald, and infant sister Janet Ryner.A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Larry’s memory to the American Brain Tumor Association, First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, IL, NWA Circle of Life in Bentonville, or a charity of your choice. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the local arrangements.
