Alice L. Gillam, 92, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Courtyard Estates, Monmouth.

Alice was born January 3, 1932 in Swan Township, IL, the daughter of Henry Russell and Helen Naomi (Watt) Day.  She was raised and educated in Biggsville, IL and graduated from Biggsville High School.

Alice married L.E. “Swede” Gillam in Macomb, Il on July 8, 1951 and he passed away on April 12, 1978

Alice worked for the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health for 25 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth and the Monmouth American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the casino, lottery tickets, reading, playing games, especially scrabble, bingo and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting 49 of the 50 States all but Alaska.

Survivors include her children, John (Diane) Gillam of Coal Valley, IL, Russell (Robin) Gillam of Monmouth, IL, Ronald Gillam of St. Charles, MO and Jane Gillam of Monmouth, IL; 2 granddaughters, Amanda (Kurt) Rooney of Burlington, IA and Julianna Gillam of Quincy, IL; 2 great granddaughters, Lani and Alli; 1 sister, Maxine Windsor of Galesburg, IL; her sister-in-law, Wanda Gillam of Ottawa, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers, Robert Day and Merle Day; her sister Nedra Hallberg

Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation has been accorded.  Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Monmouth or Betty’s Garden at Courtyard Estates and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
