Sherri Louise Root Lant, age 60, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.  She was born June 18, 1964 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Mary Short and LaVern Root.

Sherri was a 1982 graduate of Union High School in Biggsville, Illinois.

Survivors include her mother of Alamo, TX, four brothers: Danny Root of Sciota, IL, David Root of Monmouth, IL, Gary (Janet) Root of Alamo, TX, Jerry Root of Alamo, TX, four step sisters: Kim (Bob) Moeller of Salem, IA, Theresa Short, Tammy Kuster, and Angie Short, all of Burlington, IA, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend: Deborah Beam of Stronghurst.  She was preceded in death by her father, stepfather, one sister-in-law, and two great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.  Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.  A private graveside service will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Media, IL, at a later date.
