Brown Repeats as MWC Basketball Performer of the Week

Monmouth College freshman Zay Brown (Peoria, Illinois) repeated as Midwest Conference men’s basketball Performer of the Week. After winning the award last week, Brown kept rolling as he led first-place Monmouth to a 2-0 week.

Brown scored a career-high 28 points at Lake Forest on Tuesday while adding 11 rebounds for another double-double. He was 11-for-18 (.611) from the field and 6-of-9 at the line while also adding two assists and two steals.

Brown set the tone at Knox on Saturday by scoring Monmouth’s first 10 points and he finished with 24 points on 11-of-16 (.688) shooting with two free throws. Brown added eight rebounds, two steals and an assist. For the week Brown averaged 26 ppg, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and made 65% of his shots, including 79% of his 2pt FGA.

Monmouth hosts Illinois College on Wednesday, after the 5:30 p.m. women’s game.
