Demolition and cleaning have been completed at the former Bankers Life building on 1st Avenue in Monmouth, which is under the ownership of Mike and Tina Huston. Mayor Rod Davies explains the next step in the construction progress:

“They shared with us some engineered drawings and their plans for their development of the second floor. They are going to rehab the entire building, but the second floor they will have ten or eleven apartments, some single and two bedroom apartments. They are having a lot of inquiries. I know they are replacing all the windows, they have it completely gutted, the building will have a sprinkler system for fire suppression, and they are redoing everything; the electrical, the HVAC, the plumbing, everything.”

The Hustons’ have been working with BCZ Engineering out of Galesburg on the final design.
