The United Education Association, the teacher’s union, is on the last semester of their contract and have submitted their right to bargain letter to the Board of Education, informs Superintendent Tom Hawkins:
“We will be starting that process with our teacher’s union. Our Board will be working with our teacher’s union to hopefully come up with a workable contract for both sides and also for the community. I think that is really important that we understand that we want to provide the best working conditions for our staff, but at the same time we are a public school system that is funded by taxpayer dollars and that we are doing the best we can for our taxpayers in our community members in that effort.”
The next United Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 12th at United Junior/Senior High School beginning at 6 pm.
