A woman who pleaded guilty in a deadly July 4th hit and run in Galesburg in 2024 will be sentenced today. Police say officers were leaving the area of Lake Storey after completing the fireworks show when they found a male lying in the road unresponsive in the 35-hundred block of North Henderson Street. The victim, Eric McKinney, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators determined that he was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Officers located the driver, Martha Ray, who was arrested. She later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI and a felony for leaving the scene of the accident.
