2-1-1 is a free, confidential service offered in 180 languages that connects individuals to resources and services in their local communities during times of need. United Way of West Central Illinois Executive Director Jeannie Weber reports the service is able to provide more assistance in that one call than it has before:

“The 2-1-1 service is available. We are going to be trying to get non-profit organizations and churches to sign onto the database so when someone calls when they are in crisis, everything is available. So, the tech that is getting the call can provide the information to the person in crisis.”

According to the United Way Worldwide 211 Impact Survey, in 2025, 2-1-1 referrals increased to 19 million, with six million of those being housing assistance related.
