On May 26, 2026, at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Burlington Police Department took a report of a missing person identified as Karen Kristine Aller, age 69, of Burlington. Karen Aller was last seen around noon on May 25, 2026.
A search was initiated shortly after the missing person report was received. The search was temporarily halted after darkness fell and resumed first thing this morning.
At approximately 1:02 p.m., Karen Aller was located deceased in a wooded ravine area off Cascade Terrace.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation by the Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. An autopsy will be conducted in the near future.
The Burlington Police Department would like to thank the family, friends, and others who assisted in the search efforts, as well as the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Burlington Fire Department for their assistance.
At this time, foul play is not suspected and there is no danger to the community. No additional information will be released at this time.
