The annual Memorial Day Service at the Monmouth American Legion will be held on Monday, May 25th. Martin Edwards shares the details:
“The Monmouth Municipal Band will start playing around 9:30 am. The program actually starts at ten o’clock. Our speaker this year is David Mann. He will speak about his life experience as a Gold Star Son who lost his father in the Vietnam War during a time when he hadn’t even been born yet. I certainly invite the public to come out and be there to hear his story and also remember and honor our own veterans. There will be a reading and a folding ceremony. The Honor Guard will go out and render honors. Then the public is invited back inside for refreshments and a big thank you to the Auxiliary for providing that.”
If you unable to attend the annual Memorial Day Service at the Monmouth American Legion, it will be broadcast on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM and online at radiomonmouth.com beginning at 10 am Monday morning.
Additionally, this Sunday, May 24th, the local Honor Guard and Firing Squad will make stops at the area cemeteries to participate in Memorial Day Services.
