According to Buildings and Grounds Committee Chairman Sean Cavanaugh, a final report has been presented to the Warren County Board following the recent inspection of the Courthouse:
“They are suggesting that work be done on the floor of the jury room and the ceiling underneath the jury room. They suggested that we put some reinforcements there to guarantee that it is going to be safe for another 130 years. Then they recommended a scan analysis of the whole building for future monitoring of movement,” explains Cavanaugh.
“This is something that when we received the final report, we wanted to make sure that the Board was completely informed and everyone was on the same page so we could go ahead and take action moving forward. We voted to have Hutchinson Engineering draw up the documents and the plans so the repairs could go out for bid. We will be relocating the staff from the elections office. There was also a judge there who pointed out that on June 8th there is jury trial. We know these things have to be done and have to take care of them. The court system already has an emergency plan, required to by law to displace the court services so we can still have court. We will be digging into that to see what we can do about the jury room,” Cavanaugh adds.
The next Warren County Board meeting will be held Wednesday, June 17th at 5 pm.
