Ahead of the Fourth of July and the 250th Anniversary of the United States, Carol Shaw, American Family Insurance in Monmouth, is hosting their free American Flag giveaway on Friday, June 26th beginning at 11 am until 5 pm. The first 100 people that stop by Carol Shaw’s office at 702 North Main Street will receive a new flag to fly with pride. Shaw explains the reason behind the event and a new feature being added:
“I wanted to come up with a community service to do and a few years back, I was driving around the square and all the pretty American Flags were out flying, and I thought that was beautiful. Then I noticed there weren’t too many people that had flags flying at their homes, so I thought that would be a good opportunity for us to do and give away American Flags. You don’t have to be one of my customers, you just have to be a proud American. We are outside of the office set-up under canopies so you can just drive up,” Shaw informs.
“This year, we are also collecting notes or letters to send to active service members. If any of you would like to help us with that, you can drop off you note, your letter, of have your kids draw a picture. The American Legion is going to help us and we will get those to active service members,” adds Shaw.
Shaw informs you may also bring your old American Flags to her office for proper retirement.
