On Saturday June 13, 2026, honor America’s semiquincentennial by viewing historic artifacts, enjoying folk music, and participating in a benefit helping our veterans in Bishop Hill, IL. The grand opening of the America’s 250th Birthday exhibit in the Steeple Building Museum will occur this Saturday. This exhibition showcases early American history artifacts, such as a Kentucky Long Rife, land grants signed by founding father James Monroe, and other unique items. The Steeple Building will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day and is located at 103 North
Bishop Hill Street on the east side of the park. This exhibit will close at the end of October 2026. The Colony Church, Vasa Archives, Henry County Museum, and the Livery Stable Museum will also be open that day for your viewing pleasure.
Listen to songs from our past at the Doodle Folk Music Festival. Barry Cloyd, Taproot Wranglers, Bucktown Americana Music Show, and Lee Murdock will be performing. Doodle was Bishop Hill’s first folk musician. A display about Doodle (Jonas Danielson) will be shown. All these concerts are free and open to the public. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the music!
Finally, the Filling Station Restaurant will be hosting the 17th annual Honor Flight Benefit from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the day’s events will be donated to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. On Saturday, the Filling Station will have a pay-what-you-can Honor Flight Breakfast Buffet and then later a Lunch Buffet; the grill will not be open on the day. There will also be a brown bag raffle fundraiser from 8 to 11 a.m., followed by a live auction at 11 a.m.
