The summer is flying by, and soon enough the Monmouth College Fighting Scots will be back in action.
Several programs will have new coaches on staff this year, shares Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva.
“Rhys Lewis is the new women’s soccer coach. He was the assistant coach the last couple of seasons for both the men and the women, so they will look into finding a new assistant coach that works with both of those sports. Rhys went up to the head coach position.
Izzy Todd came in as the new women’s basketball coach at the end of May. She’s a Monmouth alum and played here. She’s familiar with the area and a bunch of the alumni and has hit the ground running to get the women’s team going.
A couple new assistant football coaches were brought in after Coach Freitag left to go to Sewanee and had a couple go with him. Ryan Kaltenmark is the new offensive coordinator. He had experience at Cornell in our conference, so he’s coached against Coach Braun. Then he came from Benedictine, which is where he was last year. Chris Allen is one of the offensive assistant coaches to work with him. He was a grad assistant at North Central. Tanner Tomaschke, who was an all-conference linebacker here my first two years, is the new coach on the defensive side. Those are the three new assistants on the football side.”
The Scots will kick off their fall seasons in late August and early September.
