After completing work in Kirkwood, Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) is now looking ahead to a much larger weatherization project in Monmouth.

WIRC CEO Stacy Nimmo says they are in the early planning stages for work at Lincoln Homes.

“We know that there is a need in Monmouth with Lincoln Homes. We are going to be meeting soon with the Housing Authority to start working on preliminary plans for that project. That’s an 80-home complex, so that will be a larger job. We’re really excited to be able to bring greater energy efficiency and savings to more people in Monmouth.”

Nimmo says weatherization projects usually range from around $12,000 to $15,000 per unit. With Lincoln Homes having 80 units, the project would be completed in stages.
