John Terrence “Terry” Jones, 81, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Roseville, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2024 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. He was born October 12, 1942 in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of John Martin and Ruth Louise (Sands) Jones. He was raised and educated in Roseville graduating from Roseville High School in 1961.

He married Janet Elaine Gibb in 1960 and they later divorced.

Those left to cherish his memory are; special friend, Gloria Bewley; daughters, Dawn Casteel of Roseville and Dana (Wally) Harding of Little Swan Lake; grandchildren, JR (Jenna) Casteel, Molly (Scott) Davis, Mandy (Jason) Sears, Emily Harding and Bobby Harding; great-grandchildren, JD and Jayleigh Casteel, Annabelle, Violet and Luke Davis, Elli Sears and Haegen Waller; brother, Rick (Linda) Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Terry was a farmer in the Roseville area. He was a crop insurance adjuster and drove a school bus for the Roseville school district. He was a lifetime member of the Roseville United Methodist Church where he served on the church administrative board. He was also a member of the Swan Township board and was later the Swan Township Road Commissioner, the Swan Creek Fire Department, the Warren County Fair board, the Roseville school board, the Roseville Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason and Shriner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Roseville United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church or the Roseville Community Center and left in the care of the funeral home.
