ANNOUNCES ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS FOR
FIREFIGHTER

Physical Agility Test will follow Orientation 9:00 a.m.
Applicants who possess CPAT certification from a licensed agency within 12 months prior to the written exam date will not be required to participate in the physical agility test but are required to complete the ladder climb portion of the testing. A copy of the CPAT certification must be submitted with the completed application.
Following a short break, a written test will be administered to those who pass the Agility Test.
In order to qualify to participate in the examination process, applicants must:
1. Be a minimum of 21 years of age and under 35 years of age as of June 21st, 2025 unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioner’s Act.
2. Be a citizen of the United States.
3. Have a high school/GED diploma.
4. Possess a valid driver’s license.
5. Must fulfill a residency requirement of 20 miles from Monmouth after successfully completing a one-year probation period.
EXAMINATION PROCESS: Completed applications must be returned to the Monmouth Fire Department by Friday, June 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Applicants who pass both the physical agility and written test will continue in the application process. This process includes an intense background investigation, oral interview, pre-employment medical examination including a drug screen, and psychological and polygraph examinations.
STARTING SALARY: $49,825 base pay plus generous benefit package. $62,871+ base pay after a one-year probation.
