The 26th Annual Maple City Street Machines Monmouth Cruise Night is set for this Friday, August 1st from 4 to 8 pm. Club President Clifford Adams shares a special vehicle that will be in attendance and a reminder for those trailering their cars to the event:

“There are plenty of food vendors and we have the Batmobile showing up from the Volo Museum. Everyone is excited and ready to go. Anybody bringing their car on a trailer with a truck, we ask that once you unload the car, park the truck and car trailer at the Monmouth-Roseville High School parking lot.”

As always, no bicycles, no dogs, no open alcohol, and no golf carts are allowed at the Cruise Night event. Monmouth Police Department Deputy Chief Joe Bratcher shares additional safety features in place and reminds the car owners no burnouts are allowed:

“We have cement blocks in the roadway, we don’t want kids playing on them, we don’t want people sitting on them, they are for security reasons; that is so a car can’t drive straight through the car show. We ask that no cars go through the crowd around three o’clock because that is when it starts getting really clustered,” states Bratcher.

“No burnouts at the end. It has a problem for years and last year we issued around twelve tickets, so no burnouts at the end. Chief Switzer has made it very clear that he wants nobody doing burnouts because it is not safe. If you do a burnout, you are going to get a ticket and this year they are going to be state tickets. Another thing we added this year and it just another level of security, from 8 am to probably 2 or 3 pm, you will see canines just walking around and checking things and just making sure there is no funny business, which is great. It gives the public that sense of security,” Bratcher adds.

Streets in downtown Monmouth will start being blocked off at 6 am Friday morning.
