Construction on West Harlem Avenue in Monmouth is anticipated to ramp back up soon. Public Works Director Brayden Bledsoe explains the plan moving forward:

“We had a conversation with our contractor Brandt Construction. The initial plan was they were going to close off the northern lane, which would be the westbound lane, and get that completely paved and then switch over to the southern lane. They are actually going to do that backwards, so the southern lane, which is eastbound, will be removed and repaved first. That will be a concrete road, concrete curb, and a nice concrete sidewalk all the way form Main Street to G Street. The reason for that is Ameren is actually going to come in; they have some gas line work they have to complete on the north side of the road. So, we are going to kind of have two crews out there working possibly at the same time, so it will be busy out there. Just a heads up for any motorists driving through there, it could be pretty busy in the next few weeks.”

Major completion of West Harlem Avenue is anticipated for the middle of this summer.
