Monmouth College baseball junior Raul Guillermo III (Miami, Florida) was named Midwest Conference position player Performer of the Week on Monday, his second such honor this season.

Due to inclement weather the Scots only played two games last week, both on Sunday at Ripon. Guillermo was 5-for-8 with a walk in those two games and two of his hits were extra-base hits. He had a RBI double in game one on Sunday, then went 4-for-4 with a home run in the night cap. Guillermo reached base safely in all five plate appearance in the second game.

In 13 games this season, Guillermo is batting a team-best .455 with 20 hits. He also leads the team with eight RBI, has two doubles and one home run. Guillermo has drawn five walks on the season and leads the Scots with a .509 OBP and a .568 slugging percentage.

Monmouth is scheduled to play five Midwest Conference games this week. The Scots travel to Galesburg for a Noon double header on Wednesday against Knox. Monmouth’s home opener is set for Saturday with a Noon double header against the University of Chicago. The Scots will also host Chicago for a single game at Noon on Sunday.
