Alice M. Hammer, 88, formerly of Galesburg, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2023 at Harmony of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa.

Alice was born on February 5, 1935 in Peoria. She was the daughter of Clifford and Esther (Forney) Begner. She married Alva Dale Hammer on May 12, 1961 in Princeville. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 8, 2011. Alice is survived by her son, Mike (Julie Anne) Hammer of Dubuque; sisters Phyllis Kniss of Galesburg; nephews, Donnie (Rhonda) Tucker of Knoxville, Gary (Patricia) Tucker of Muscatine and Tim (Wendy) Begner of Princeville; nieces, Sue (Russell) LaRose of Galesburg and Mary Arnold of Princeville, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Jeffrey Hammer and nephew, Scott Kniss.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A burial of cremated remains will be held 10 AM, Friday, July 21,2023 at the Princeville Township Cemetery, North Princeville Cemetery Road, Princeville. Rev. David Pyell will officiate. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory have been entrusted with the arrangements.
