As a career in the trades is growing in popularity among high school and college age individuals, Recruitment Coordinator for Career, Technical, and Health programs Emily Collins shares available paths at Carl Sandburg College:

“A lot of the programs we have available include the nursing programs, LPN, RN programs, there is also CNA available. We also have Information Technology and Cybersecurity. We offer Administrative Office Assistant and Administrative Office Professional programs. Medical Office Assistant, Medical Office Professionals, Automotive Technology, and Criminal Justice fall under those categories as well.”

New for this upcoming academic year, Dean of Career Technical Education Ellen Burns informs students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program are eligible for a Tools of the Trade Success grant:

“Thanks to the generosity of the Edward Arthur Mellinger Foundation, we are able to announce that we are offering a Tools of the Trade Scholarship program for our automotive students this fall and this spring. We will have a limited number of ten $1,500 grants per student on a first come, first serve basis. It will be dispersed this academic year and will help offset the costs of the student toolkit, work wear, and other miscellaneous course equipment. We are very excited to be able to offer that to our students. The really neat thing about this is the students get these tools and they take them with them for the entirety of their career.”

Classes for the 2023 Fall Semester at Carl Sandburg College begin August 21st.
