Mrs. Vicki J. Shane, age 77, of Galesburg, passed away Tuesday July 18, 2023, at 2:28 PM.
Vicki was born to Tom (Alice “Polly”) Firof and Marjorie “Jean” [Greeling] (Bob) Horine on December 21, 1945 in Galesburg Illinois. Vicki married the love of her life: Lyle “Ned” Shane on December 12, 1965 in Monmouth, and shared 57 long and love filled years together.
Vicki is survived by her husband “Ned” Shane of Galesburg Illinois; her children Dawn (Pat) McGrath of Tennessee, and Amy (Rodney) Powers of Knoxville Illinois; her brother Dale Firof; her grandchildren Jordyn (Colton) Deal of Tennessee, Shane Powers of Bloomington Illinois, Christian (Adre) Powers of Iowa, and Greyson Powers of Knoxville Illinois; and her great-grandchildren Ryker Deal and Ramzey Deal both of Tennessee. Vicki is preceded in death by her parents.
Vicki was a very active member of her church’s community, alongside her husband “Ned”. Vicki had served as the church’s book keeper for several years, and cared very deeply for her church family. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at every chance she had, and was particularly smitten with her grand-children and great grandchildren once they came into her life. Vicki also enjoyed going on cruises, going on several trips with her loving husband.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial visitation is being held on Saturday July 22, 2023 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Radiant Worship Center of Galesburg (First Church of the Open Bible). A memorial service will follow the visitation with Pastor Mark Dexter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
