No Injuries Reported During Structure Fire in Galesburg

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 367 Lincoln Street yesterday, August 23, 2023, at 12:54 PM. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, personnel encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence. Battalion Chief Dave Farrell established command and the Brooks Street Station crew, after an initial exterior attack, made entry with an attack line to extinguish the fire.

One occupant had safely exited the residence at the time of the fire. The interior of the home sustained heavy smoke and water damage throughout. No injuries were reported. Preliminary damage estimates are at $15,000. 1-800-Board Up assisted victims with contacting the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. An emergency callback of off-duty fire personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the City. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental by Galesburg Fire Department investigators.
