Mr. Robert “Bob” Charles Hunt, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 8:58 am, Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

Bob was born July 25, 1932, in Shanghai City, Illinois, the son of Fredrick C. and Elizabeth M. (Donaldson) Hunt. He married the love of his life, Joan Marie Gordon on April 7, 1951, at the North Henderson United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death after 69 years of marriage on August 4, 2020.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Cris) Hunt of Galesburg and John (Mary Ann) Hunt of Libertyville; four grandchildren, Kim (Matt) McNeil of Hernando, Mississippi, Kraig Hunt of Schaumberg and Eric (Britany) Hunt of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Brandon (Kelly) Hunt of Chicago; four great grandchildren, Kendyl, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, and Ava; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Emily Matlock.

Bob graduated from Alexis High School in 1950 and soon enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 1951-1954. He made his living as a farmer and raised hogs. Bob was an accomplished carpenter, enjoying working with his hands. He was an active and faithful member of North Henderson United Methodist Church. Bob served on a variety of boards including the Alexis School board, he served as president for the Mount Vernon and Fuller Cemetery Associations and was a Kelly Township trustee. Bob and Joan were proud 41-year members of Choral Dynamics.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery with Military Rites by Knox County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, Choral Dynamics or to the North Henderson United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
