During the recent Board of Education meeting for the United School District, the Board approved the 2024-2025 academic calendar, the decision to opt out of the Regional Office of Education’s grant program and fund their own pre-kindergarten classrooms, the third reading of policy updates, before going to closed session and the announcement of two resignations, reports Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt:

“Following the closed session we had a couple of major announcements come out of that. The Board regretfully accepted the resignation of David Milroy as our Varsity football coach. Dave has been at the helm for seven years and he has a set of twins at home that are growing up faster than he can imagine and Dave decided at this point in time it was time to do something different than being the head football coach. Probably bigger news yet, our high school Principal Chris Schwarz, we regretfully accepted his resignation as he was intending to be our District Superintendent starting on July 1st, but he has accepted a position at the IHSA as their next Assistant Executive Director.”

Additionally, Superintendent Whitsitt informs the United Board of Education also approved the amendment of a scheduled one o’clock dismissal day on Friday, March 1st to a no school full day in-service for staff.
