With the end of Daylight Savings Times right around the corner, it stems a good reminder of checking those smoke detectors in homes and businesses, informs Monmouth Fire Assistant Chief Craig Cozadd:
“The old rule of thumb was to change the batteries when the time change was, but now batteries have a ten-year battery by law. So, what we tell people now is that you need to test them during the time change. You should test them monthly, but if nothing else test them during those time changes and make sure they are working. Also, we do install smoke detectors that we give out to homeowners in the city, however, if you have a detector and you need help with it, that you purchased yourself, or a carbon monoxide detector, and you have any questions, we can help you with that as well.”
Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, November 2nd, where clocks will fall back one hour, gaining you one extra hour of sleep, causing the sun to set earlier in the evenings.
