The tornado that came through Monmouth last week left downed power lines, damaged roofs, and debris across the city. Some in Monmouth were without power for many hours, while others waited a couple days before power was fully restored.

Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat says Ameren did a great job responding to the storm and getting power back to the community.

“Ameren, their response to the storm coming through was great. They did an outstanding job of communication with us. They pulled in crews from other states, and they were really concentrating on getting the power going in Monmouth, because we were one of the hardest hit in the state.”

Chief Rexroat says given the amount of damage across Monmouth, Ameren’s communication and quick response made a big difference in getting the city powered back up.
