Galesburg, IL (June 10, 2026) — On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at approximately 10:38 AM, officers with the Galesburg Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Interstate 74 near mile marker 46. The driver was identified as Timothy Johnson, 50 years old. During the course of the stop, officers determined that Johnson had an active arrest warrant for Homicide out of Los Angeles County, California. Johnson was taken into custody without incident.
A passenger in the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Rafael Lambert.
A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun, which was reported stolen from the state of Washington. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail.
Timothy Johnson was arrested for the outstanding Los Angeles County Homicide warrant, as well as additional charges for Possession of Stolen Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He remains held in custody at the Knox County Jail.
Rafael Lambert was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Following a detention hearing on June 8, 2026, Lambert was subsequently released.
