With an emphatic 49-6 win over the LVC (Lewistown/North Fulton) co-op in Cuba, the United Red Storm win consecutive games for the first time since the beginning of the 2023 season. The Red Storm did all the damage in the first half, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and 21 more in the second. For most of the season, United quarterback Kellen Boone has done the brunt of this damage through the air. On Friday night, Boone used his legs to put the Miners away. He ran for 161 yards and four touchdowns in the first two quarters, helping his team to a 49-6 lead at the break. With the game well in hand, Boone sat out the final two periods. He was also 11-15 for 126 yards and one touchdown pass in the first half. His touchdown pass was to Carter Olson merely two minutes gone into game to get the Red Storm on the board. Koen Sperry also hit the endzone with two rushing touchdowns in the first half. Not only did United play well offensively, the Red Storm defense suffocated the LVC offense, giving up just 106 total yards. Fifty-one of those yards came on one play for the LVC lone touchdown.

With the win, United improves it’s overall record to (2-5) and are now (2-1) in the LincolnLand South Division. LVC falls to (0-7) and (0-3). South Fulton is on top of the division standings at (3-0) after beating Bureau Valley 28-15. United is tied with A-Town and Havana at (2-1) for second place. A-Town was upset by Havana 35-20 on Friday night. United pretty much has it’s South Division destiny in it’s own hands as they will end the regular season with two home games against South Fulton in week 8 and Havana in week 9.
