Shirley E. Dunlap, 93, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.
She was born on September 11, 1930 in New Windsor, IL, the daughter of Roy and Violet (Ralston) Wertz. Shirley was raised and educated in New Windsor and graduated from New Windsor High School in 1948.
Shirley married Dale L. Dunlap in January of 1949 in New Windsor, IL; he preceded her in death on May 28, 2003.
Shirley was a homemaker and farmwife, she loved taking care of her family. Shirley enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, and most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Surviving Shirley are her children, Judi (Rick) Anderson of Cape Coral, FL, Larry (Karen) Dunlap of Black Mountain, NC; son-in-law, Terry Morris of Monmouth, IL; her grandchildren, Erin (Manny) Chey of Tampa, FL, Megan (Jamie) Smith of Monmouth, IL, Justin (Amanda) Dunlap of Zebulon, NC, Mark (Gwendolyn) Dunlap of Kernersville, NC; her great grandchildren, Blake Dunlap of Kernersville, NC, Elsa Dunlap of Kernersville, NC, Stella Dunlap of Zebulon, NC, Rowen Dunlap of Zebulon, NC, Branch Dunlap of Zebulon, NC, Maddisyn Cook of Monmouth, IL, Payton Smith of Monmouth, IL, Keegan Smith of Monmouth, IL; and her great great granddaughter, Phoebie Jane Nicole Smith of Monmouth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Jill M. Morris, her sister, Imogene Cowles, and her beloved dog, Minnie.
A Private Family Graveside Services will be at the New Windsor Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Varsity Club (83 Public Sq., Monmouth, IL).
