Evelyn J. Carlson, age 82, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 am on Thursday August 8, 2024 at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth, Illinois. Evelyn was born on March 30, 1942 in Monmouth and is the daughter of Emory A and Elizabeth C. Eyler Schroeder. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1960. She later attended several years of Beauty School. Evelyn married Raymond A. Carlson on October 12, 1962 in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2002. Evelyn began work as a beautician in her early years. Upon the birth of her oldest son, Erik, she became a stay-at-home mother and took care of her children and family. In later years Evelyn returned to work in sales of Ladies clothing and also was a manager in that endeavor. After Raymond’s death in 2002 Evelyn returned to Monmouth where she enjoyed volunteering and being a part of the “Red Hatters”, Evelyn attended Faith United Presbyterian Church of Monmouth. She is survived by her son, Christopher Carlson and AnnMarie of Salisbury, Massachusetts, her granddaughters, Hannah Carlson of Fresno, California, Sarah Carlson of Tennessee, and Rachel Carlson, also of Fresno, California. There are two grandsons, Ken Carlson in California and Brennan Carlson and Emma of Rochester, New Hampshire. Evelyn has two Great Grandchildren, Troy and Hannah, who survive. Her brother in law also survives her, Gary White of Monmouth, Illinois.
A funeral service for Evelyn is planned on Wednesday August 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
