Melba A. Twomey, 88, of Roseville, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Goldwater Care Center, Roseville, IL.

Melba was born August 19, 1936 in Macomb, Il the daughter of Ora Albert and Goldie Abigail (Wells) Kirby.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth High School.

Melba married Loren Patrick Twomey at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth on April 7, 1953 and he passed away on July 6, 1983.

She was a homemaker, raising her family and during harvest, worked alongside her husband Pat, at Twomey Company in Smithshire. 

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  For a time, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Raritan, along with the Altar and Rosary Society.  She was also a member of the Roseville American Legion Auxiliary.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s Fan. She loved playing cards and socializing with her siblings.  Her real passion was attending her grandchildren’s many events.

Survivors include her children, Patricia (Ron) Parkins of Berwick, IL, John (Amy) Twomey of Roseville, Lori (Wayne) Lipes of Oquawka, Il, Teri (the late Tom) Missavage of Roseville, Joni (Mark) Colclasure of Roseville, Patrick “Mark” (Donna) Twomey of Macomb, Il; 26 grandchildren 67 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and expecting another shortly; 2 surviving sisters-in-laws; 1 brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Joseph E. Twomey; 1 granddaughter; 1 great-granddaughter; 7 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 15, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be at the Roseville Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday November 14, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:30 pm.  In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception School and sent to the funeral home.
