As part of the celebrations to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of Warren County, the Warren County History Museum is sitting down with various individuals from the area to hear their stories, states Julie Shaw:
“We sit down with those folks and they talk about growing up in Warren County, the hardships they faced, what they remember about their grandparents, or their parents; it is just a conversation and those are recorded,” says Shaw.
“We have done several interviews so far. Ron Jensen, he was a former editor of the Monmouth Review Atlas. I have interviewed Bob and Joe McVey. I worked for Joe at Warren Achievement Center and as people may know Bob was the proprietor of The Model Clothier in town. Jim Brown, who owned the paint store in Monmouth. I have interviewed John Turnbull. John’s family founded the Turnbull Funeral Home in 1884. We have had interviews with Mark Parrish, a longtime farmer in Warren County, Larry Moore, the Moore Family farmed in Warren County since 1910. Also, there are two talks given by John Twomey, one in 2014 and one in 2015,” Shaw adds.
These completed interviews can be found online at wchistorymuseum.com. To find out more information on how to be involved in the Warren County Bicentennial Project, contact the Warren County History Museum at 309-734-8433.
