A request for a stop sign has sparked discussion with the Monmouth City Council as a resident looks for improved safety at Clinton Avenue and North 5th Street, according to Mayor Rod Davies:

“Jim Cook came to Council to request for the neighborhood a four-way stop sign there at 5th and Clinton. They are citing reduced visibility, a lot of children playing in the area, and he provided a petition signed by the neighbors, about 25 signatures asking for Council to place a four-way stop there to increase safety. Council did agree to ask our city attorney to draft an ordinance for their consideration at our next meeting.”

Meanwhile, projects continue to move forward on the Monmouth College campus, Jamieson Community Center and the Pattee Foundation are rehabilitating five homes, and Midwestern Pet Foods is pouring new footings for new warehouse storage space.
