Donna Goodrich Libby, 80, formerly of Galva, IL, died June 6, 2023.

She was born October 25, 1942, in Osceola, IA to Walter H. and Lela (Woods) Goodrich. She graduated Galva High School with the class of 1960. Donna married Hayden Werkheiser on August 21, 1960. They had a daughter, Darla Jean, who died at birth September 11, 1963. Hayden died January 23, 1964. She and Don Libby were married November 21, 1964. They had three children, Megan (Wayne) Grant of Monmouth, IL; Jeff (Brandy) Libby of Belton, Tx; and Jake (Heidi) Libby of Oneida, IL. She was very proud to be the grandmother of Eric (Carrie) Werkheiser, Kristina (Isaac) Hunt, Chase Carnes, Tanner Libby, Hannah Libby, Dane Libby, John (Ashley Richards) Grant, and Katie (Jason) Hasten. Great-grandchildren include: Jackson, Johanna, Jonah and Judson Hunt; Mathew Blankenship; William, Nathan, and Jonathon Grant; Lucas, Levi and Willow Hasten; and Jaxton and Kenton Rein. Additional survivors include, siblings: Art (Kim) Goodrich of Woodhull, Joyce Goodrich of Princeton, Judy Neel of Culvert City, KY, Connie (Gary) Yocum of Delong and Denise (Pete) Goodrich-Kruzan of Abingdon; her special friends, Nikki Frankenreider and Lynda Kuster as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Hayden Werkheiser and Don Libby, daughter Darla, siblings Dixie Robertson, Debbie Lawson, Roger Goodrich and Walter Goodrich, Jr.

Donna’s work history varied. She picked strawberries for five cents a quart when she was in fourth grade. She was a babysitter, waitress, barmaid, factory worker, nurse’s aide, nanny, reporter, managing editor, custodian and in-home caregiver. The majority of her working years were spent with the developmentally disabled adult population at St. Mary’s Square, KCCDD, The Francis House and Warren Achievement Center where she retired in May of 2008 after more than 20 years at the various facilities. She had been clerk of the Altona Village Board and was later elected the first female President of the Board. Other interests included reading and baking. Spending time with family and friends was special, but being with grandkids and great-grandkids was her real passion.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 3-5 PM at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida. Funeral services will follow visitation at 5 PM. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. Burial will be held at a later date. Rev. Lisa Unger will officiate. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida have been entrusted with assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be donated to Paralyzed Veterans of America or to a charity of the donor’s choosing. Online expressions of sympathy may be left to the family at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
